The Delivery 16mm x 2 Dual projected lm 1985
A dual-screen presentation. It’s central concepts revolve and evolve around those expressed in surrealism, particularly those expressed by Antonin Artaud in “Le monde illustre’ 29th October 1927 regarding Ia coquille et le clergyman”. Artaud wrote: “We should not look for logic or sequence which is present in things, but interpret images which develop in the direction of their essential intimate significance which goes from outside to the inside. Coquille et le clergyman does not tell a story but develops a series of mental states which are deduced from each other as thought is from thought.” In “cinema et realite it is not a matter of finding an equivalent of written language, in visual language which would be a bad translation, but of bringing out the very essence of language, transporting the actions as to a plane where all translations would be useless where the action works intuitively on the brain … the human skin of things, the derm of reality.” From these concepts and numerous others regarding Aleotory and chance operations such as those found in the works of Mallarme,
Lautremont, Dos Passos, Brion Gysin and W.S. Burroughs et all I embarked on the construction of the film.I was also inspired by Bretons “Seconde manifesto du surealisme” in 1930 which took up almost to the letter the formula of Hermes: ‘Everything leads to the belief that there exists a spot in the mind from which life and death, the real and the imaginary, the past and the future, the high and the low, the communicable and the incommunicable will cease to appear contradictory’. ‘The Delivery’ represents an occultation of surrealistic themes applied to lmage production techniques.

Much more industrial than its predecessor ‘Meontological Research I’ and far more affecting. The first side concentrates mainly on the psycho-acoustic effects of layered tones and is very audiophile in construction. It can literally pin you to your chair in places. Unfortunately the vinyl could have been better pressed, as it will deteriorate pretty quickly probably due to the complexity of the sounds. The later tracks (side 2) are far more ambient and less disorienting, but still well constructed. The most diverse T.A.G.C. release. Not as approachable as Digitaria, but technically brilliant. Psychedelic music for the 21st century. Still sounds as up-to-date as it did over 20 years ago.
If there was ever a reason needed for the issue of CD’s then these research recordings are a prime example. Originally available on Side Effects in 1988 limitations imposed by the analogue format of the record itself meant the full effect of this work was never adequately realised. T.A.G.C. describe themselves as a 2lst Century technological pataphysical Afred Jarry the sounds contained herein are certainly the ideal soundscapes for such a man, all subsonic rumblings and menacing voice prints. After recent surgery to my eyes the introductory Test Tones hurt and left a feeling of disorientation. E.P.M.D. (Eroto Psycho Motor Disturbances) pulses and wails along and is almost dance-orientated at times. Magnetic Pharmacology is the most accessible work on this release – sustained voice and sounds of the sea are positively relaxing in their simplicity. Incidentally this piece has also been used as a soundtrack to T.A.G.’s film Burning Water which sadly has remained largely unseen. I have had a vinyl copy of this for a few years and despite listening to it at great lengths and now again here, I still find it impossible to categorise, as indeed do TAG. themselves. Honorable mentions are given to many scientific areas of work in philosophical and psychological fields, the lavish 2O page booklet accompanying this offers up a minefield of coherent and intelligent information on the effects of sound on the brain and ultimately the body it requires active participation, forget designer drugs. Buy yourself a brain machine, build your own dream machine, listen to this with headphones and the speakers on and monitor the results. We’d be interested to hear from you.

“Burning Water”, develops new forms of visual expression.. Inspired by the use of multiple montage techniques employed by Kenneth Anger. Each image in the Film is taken from specific occult areas, symbols and images, and up to quintuple exposures of the film i.e. five montage-levels then computer software was used to treat the entire edited film and finally achieved the results, with a film which relates directly to the subconscious levels of the mind, a kinetic Rorschach-test, an exploration of the resurgent atavistic and sentient symbolic systems, used by Austin Osmon Spare, “Burning Water” is an alchemical and technological enquiry into sub-states of being. A meontological visualisation beyond analytical analysis.Burning Water 1986 / 1989.

To adjust the joints to each other, coax the limbs, head and torso into winsome poses, then run the eyes and hand over these softly dipping vales, relish the pleasure of the shapely curves, give them a pretty turn or with blood rousing gusto wrench them out of shape. Finally, beware of remaining unresponsive to the inner workings, probe into the thoughts of little girls and make the deepest strata of those thoughts visible, preferably through the navel: a panorama opened up in the depths of the womb by multicoloured electric lightning. Here perhaps lies the solution.

The two primary motions are rotation and sexual movement, whose combination is ex- pressed by the locomotive’s wheels and pistons. These two motions are reciprocally trans- formed, the one into the other. Thus one notes that the earth, by turning, makes animals and men have coitus, and because the result is as much the cause as that which provokes it , that animals and men make the earth turn by having coitus. It is the mechanical combination or transformation of these movements that the alchemists sought as the philosopher’s stone.
It is through the use of this magically valued combination that one can determine the present position of men in the midst of the elements.

TAG ORGAN NEEDLES / LTD BOX / CD ARMComm 005 / usb 2 TAG Organ Needles -The chance juxtaposition of a sewing machine and an umbrella on a dissecting table Comte de Lautréamont, The Songs of Maldoror, Canto VI, Verse 3. Les Chants de Maldoror - Chant premier, par *** (1st canto, published anonymously), Imprimerie Balitout, Questroy et Cie, Paris, August 1868 Un coup de dés jamais n'abolira le hasard (A Throw of the Dice will Never Abolish Chance) Stéphane Mallarmé. The poem was written by Mallarmé in 1897 and published in May of that same year in the magazine Cosmopolis, but was published in book form only in 1914, 16 years after the author's death, based on his extensive notes and exacting instructions. The first edition was printed on July 10, 1914 by the Imprimerie Sainte Catherine at Bruges, in a private 60-copy issue. In 1917, French writer Philippe Soupault discovered a copy of Les Chants de Maldoror in the mathematics section of a small Parisian bookshop, near the military hospital to which he had been admitted. In his memoirs Soupault wrote:By the light of a candle that was permitted to me, I began reading. It was like an enlightenment. In the morning I read the Chants again, convinced that I had dreamed... The day after, André Breton came to visit me. I gave him the book and asked him to read it. The following day he brought it back, enthusiastic as I had been. A Surrealist manifesto was written by Breton and published in 1924 as a booklet (Editions du Sagittaire) . In which he defines the objectives of Surrealism as “Psychic automatism in its pure state, by which one proposes to express—verbally, by means of the written word, or in any other manner—the actual functioning of thought. Dictated by thought, in the absence of any control exercised by reason, exempt from any aesthetic or moral concern”. It was on a Radio 4 Program around 1974 that I heard the British Surrealist Robert Melville talk about surrealism, explaining that Jazz was a form of pure psychic Automatism has Breton had announced in his Manifesto of 1924.This Thought stayed with me and also the conception of the Objectives and this influenced the way I approached Art and eventually Sound along with the concept of Chance which Stéphane Mallarmé had introduced and which can be seen in the evolution of 20th century music, the advent of modernism is often pegged to Debussy’s 1894 composition “Prelude to ‘The Afternoon of a Faun,’ ” a meditation on Mallarmé’s most famous poem. John Cage and Pierre Boulez, masters of the musical avant-garde, studied Mallarmé’s explorations of chance and discontinuity. Perhaps the most prolonged resonance was in French philosophy and theory. From Sartre and Lacan to Blanchot and Derrida and on to Badiou, Julia Kristeva, and Jacques Rancière, French thinkers have defined themselves through interpretations of Mallarmé. It is in these elements and Concepts that I placed in the Earliest works and Manifestos of the Anti Group such as The Delivery 1985 (see Sleeve Notes ) and the subsequent development of these concepts that this Album Organ Needles is based upon. TAGC . Transmission from the Trans-Yuggothian Broadcast Station . MEONTOLOGICAL RESEARCH RECORDING 3 BOOK & SM Card / BK / ARMComm / RIZOSFERA NUKFM 013 For Recording 3 TAGC have researched areas of outsider science and Pataphysical ideas derived from Alfred Jarry a priori epiphenonominal science & also explores some of the central Meontological ideas based on the occult technology pioneered by Micheal Bertaux,s work in the Coulier Noire also Kenneth Grants Cult of Lam and those of Jack Whiteside Marvel Parsons and Marjorie Cameron and also explores new developments of Voudon Gnosticism and the implicit science that exists behind esoterics. The Michael Bertaux piece is a direct collaborative Film / audio piece based on the original Paintings and Drawings by Michael Bertaux from his older works and exclusively from his new works from Vudu Cartography ,also paintings and Drawings by Alfred Jarry, This Long awaited third recording in the Meon Series features collaborative contributions from Michael Bertaux ,David Beth, La Société Voudon Gnostique & Barry William Hale, based around his book Legion 46 and additional ideas fromTeratological and Pataphysical concepts ,The Meon 3 Book is Illustrated throughout and features an in depth Article for each of the Audio Visual pieces.Introduction by David Beth & original Articles By Barry William Hale ,Adi Newton. Each Audio piece is synchronised to a visual Invocation. The Recordings use Biological radio recordings and Earth radio transmissions & ELF information, the Films employ multiple montage and image manipulation.Work originally commenced on Meontological research recording 3 in 2009 it was developed consequently to be presented using the TAGC conceptual projection staging system TAGC named as The Meon Cube ,a system whereby 4 projections are simultaneously engaged to project the Meontological Films on to a physical cube consisting of 4 semi transparent screens constructed from lightweight aluminium frames forming a equilateral square. The Cube is large enough to house in the Interior a number of TAGC personnel and computer audio generating systems while the Anterior Screen surfaces are employed for the projections. In the live context and staging the Cube is positioned with the possibility of a 360 degree field along with the Ambisonic sound reinforcement so that the Audience can audition and gain a full 360 degree Audio & Visual immersive experience. The semi transparent screens also act as a way of enabling the audience to partially observe the members of The Anti Group within ,so the sense of live performance is still maintained, further it is also possible to experience a series of continually changing montage images as the viewer moves position within the field experiencing the full effect of what TAGC descried as the Meontage. The first staging of Meontological Research Recording 3 utilizing the Cube was presented in Leipzig at the WGT on the 10th of June 2010 in the Pantheon Leipzig and also at Incubate Sept 22nd 2013 at De NWE Vorst The new Kings Theatre Tilburg. A high Definition fixed camera was used along side a roaming hand held High Definition camera on both occasions. The leipzig recording has been edited and post produced and is included in the SMCard that accompanies this Book. The individual Films are also included as well as the audio tracks.TAG would like to thank David Beth for his explanatory Introduction to the Meontological recordings and Barry William Hale for his participation and contribution to the project and continual support and additions to the text for Teratological and Pataphysical experiment BWH 49.Robert Ansell of Fulger Press for permissions via Michael Bertaux for use of the paintings in Vaudon Cartography by Michael Bertaux.. BLOWUP REVIEW MARCH EDITION -TAGC / The AntI Group Meontological Research Recording III • book + USB card Rizosfera In the rich discography of Clock DVA and their parallel project The Anti Group / TAGC, Adi Newton has often combined his sonic research with theoretical essays and related images. Never before, however, has one of his works been proposed in such a fully multimedia form as the sumptuous volume of almost 200 pages plus an USB card with audio and video content (and links for digital streaming from the RizoStream platform) designed and developed by Rizosfera for the third part of the "Meontological Research" (started in 1987-88 with two albums of "ambisonics" and the booklet entitled Rotogravure). We already had a tasting of such an experience in the magazine La deleuziana 10 [see BU # 269 and Chaos Variation III, Rizosfera, 2018]. The volume, richly illustrated with historical realia, original collages and stills from TAGC videos, develops with texts by Newton and other writers, themes dear to the musician, such as the theories of some key characters of twentieth-century occultism (Crowley, Spare , Grant, Bertiaux, etc.), the fantastic and surreal art of authors such as Clarke Ashton Smith and Pavel Tchelitchew, medieval and Renaissance teratology, the combination of aerospace research and sexual magic in the work of Jack Parsons, the interception of signals of extraterrestrial origin and more generally any sort of link between esotericism and technology (meontology is "the research around not being”). The subtitle of the work, "Transmissions from the Trans Yuggothian Broadcast Station" suggests that a Lovecraftian intergalactic radio station is transmitting a series of audiovisual experiments, in which techniques of superimposition, overlapping, mirroring, transformation and reiteration of images of the above mentioned authors, create arcane and hypnotic sequences close to digital magical acts as in Kenneth Anger or Harry Smith’s short films full of symbolism. The eight films, accompanied by an embracing sound between space ambient and dark chill-out music, have been conceived to be presented with simultaneous projections on the four semi-transparent walls of a large cubic structure that houses the performers inside, in an immersive experience of occult psychedelia at 360 degrees. In the final one hour-long documentary shot and edited by Pamela Eddington and Gabriel Edvy, we can witness the set up and the first presentation of Meon III with its futuristic Cube, in Leipzig in 2011, with the collaboration of Maurizio "TeZ" Martinucci and Shara Vasileva. Overall this is a unique and innovative product, concluding a project which began in 2009 and of which Adi Newton should be really proud. Vittore Baroni / Blowup Magazine March edition 2021
